Job description:

Join the Leadership Team at Live. Grow. Share.

Live. Grow. Share. (LGS) is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and highly organized Co-Director – Finance & Administrative Operations to join our senior leadership team.

This is not a traditional bookkeeping or accounting position.

We are looking for a leader who understands how budgets, staffing, programs, purchasing, facilities, and organizational growth all connect—and who can help us build the financial and administrative systems necessary to support a growing behavioral health organization.T

he Co-Director – Finance & Administrative Operations works in partnership with our Co-Director – Clinical Operations. Together, the Co-Directors help guide organizational strategy, operations, growth, accountability, and sustainability while maintaining clearly defined areas of responsibility.

The Finance & Administrative Co-Director leads the financial and administrative side of that partnership, while Clinical Operations maintains authority over clinical care, supervision, treatment standards, and clinical compliance.

What You'll Do

You will serve as the organization's primary leadership resource for budgeting, expenditure management, financial planning, financial controls, forecasting, and administrative financial operations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading development of LGS's annual organizational budget.

  • Developing and monitoring departmental and program budgets.

  • Monitoring organizational financial performance and budget-to-actual results.

  • Identifying spending trends, significant variances, and emerging financial concerns.

  • Developing financial forecasts and projections.

  • Reviewing significant and unbudgeted expenditures.

  • Establishing purchasing and expenditure controls.

  • Developing financial models for new programs, staffing models, and organizational expansion.

  • Evaluating the financial sustainability of programs and initiatives.

  • Reviewing vendor costs and recurring organizational expenses.

  • Monitoring purchasing and organizational credit-card practices.

  • Supporting financial internal controls and appropriate separation of financial duties.

  • Preparing understandable financial reports for leadership and managers.

  • Helping managers understand and take responsibility for their departmental budgets.

  • Supporting audits, financial reviews, and funding reviews.

  • Helping strengthen LGS's administrative and financial infrastructure as the organization grows.

A Leadership Role — Not Just a Finance Role

This position participates directly in senior organizational leadership.

You will work with other LGS leaders on decisions involving:

  • Organizational strategic planning

  • Annual organizational priorities

  • New programs and services

  • Program expansion or restructuring

  • Staffing models

  • Major organizational purchases

  • Contracts

  • Facilities and operational investments

  • Organizational policies

  • Resource allocation

  • Financial sustainability

  • Organizational risk

  • Long-term growth

We are looking for someone who can bring a financial and operational perspective to the leadership table, while also understanding that financial decisions affect employees, programs, and the people we serve.

Working With Program Managers

An important part of this position is helping managers become confident and accountable financial managers of their programs.

You will meet with managers to review budgets, spending, staffing expenses, program costs, and financial performance.

Rather than simply telling departments that they are over budget, we want someone who can help managers understand:

What happened? Why did it happen? What needs to change? And what options do we have?

You will help managers forecast staffing, program, transportation, supply, event, and operational expenses while developing financially sustainable program models.

Budget & Expenditure Oversight

The Co-Director retains hands-on responsibility for LGS's budget and expenditure administration.

This includes:

  • Reviewing expenditures, invoices, purchase requests, and reimbursements.

  • Ensuring expenditures are appropriately documented.

  • Ensuring expenses are assigned to the correct programs, departments, accounts, and funding sources.

  • Identifying unusual transactions, duplicate expenses, or financial discrepancies.

  • Researching significant budget variances.

  • Maintaining budget tracking systems and financial models.

  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

  • Assisting with month-end and year-end financial processes.

  • Requiring appropriate financial review before significant organizational commitments are made.

Financial & Operational Planning

You will work with clinical and program leadership to answer practical questions such as:

Can we afford this position?

Is this program financially sustainable?

What happens financially if reimbursement changes?

What will this program cost us six months from now?

Are staffing expenses aligned with projected revenue?

Where are we spending more than anticipated?

What does leadership need to address now rather than six months from now?

This position is expected to identify financial concerns early and bring leadership both the problem and potential solutions.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working with numbers but equally comfortable working with people.

The successful candidate will be able to move between detailed financial analysis and organization-wide leadership.

You should be someone who can:

  • Understand the story behind financial reports.

  • Recognize when something doesn't look right.

  • Investigate discrepancies independently.

  • Build practical financial systems.

  • Explain financial information to people who aren't accountants.

  • Have difficult but productive conversations about spending.

  • Balance immediate program needs with long-term organizational sustainability.

  • Collaborate with clinical leaders without attempting to make clinical decisions.

  • Hold managers accountable while also helping them succeed.

  • Bring solutions—not simply identify problems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, organizational leadership, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience may be considered.

  • Two to five years of progressively responsible experience in budgeting, accounting, financial administration, expenditure management, business operations, or organizational administration.

  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets and analyzing financial information.

  • Knowledge of budgeting principles, accounting practices, and financial reporting.

  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to identify financial discrepancies and unusual transactions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple organizational priorities and deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with organizational leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

We would especially value candidates with experience in:

  • Leadership or management

  • Behavioral health

  • Healthcare

  • Nonprofit or social-service organizations

  • Fund accounting

  • Grant or restricted funding

  • Organizational budgeting

  • Financial forecasting and projections

  • Management-level financial reporting

  • Internal financial controls

  • Financial policy development

  • Growing or evolving organizations

The Co-Director Partnership

LGS uses a collaborative Co-Director leadership model.

The Co-Director – Finance & Administrative Operations provides primary leadership regarding:

Financial health Budgets Expenditures Financial controls Forecasting Resource planning Administrative infrastructure Organizational sustainability.

The Co-Director – Clinical Operations provides primary leadership regarding:

Clinical quality, Clinical operations, Supervision, Treatment standards, Documentation, Clinical compliance, Clinical risk and Service delivery

Major organizational decisions that substantially affect both areas are approached collaboratively.

This structure allows each leader to bring their area of expertise to organizational decision-making while working toward the same goal: providing high-quality services within a responsible and sustainable organization.

Who Will Thrive in This Position?

This may be the right position for you if you enjoy building systems, solving complex organizational problems, and helping a growing organization understand how its financial decisions affect its future.

We aren't looking for someone who only reports what happened last month.

We are looking for someone who can help us understand what is happening now, what is likely to happen next, and what we should be preparing for.

If you are analytical, collaborative, comfortable with accountability, and interested in helping build the financial and administrative infrastructure of a mission-driven behavioral health organization, we would like to hear from you.
