Vehicle Restoration
The Mechanics & Vehicle Restoration Program at Live.Grow.Share. offers participants an opportunity to a hands-on approach to learning the dynamics of vehicle repair. Working alongside our Certified Master Mechanic, this program provides therapeutic services while engaging in an educational environment. From oil changes, tire rotations, and small repairs to mechanics adventures and field trips, we give our participants a unique way to learn and grow.

The community recently donated 3 vehicles to the Mechanics program that we are so excited to start working on. Over this next quarter we will be working to restore each of these vehicles. Working closely with your Peer Support Specialist learning the art and craft of vehicle restoration. You will learn basic to advanced skill at the mechanics program with out mechanics expert Steve Patterson. In out Mechanics class outing we will go over everything from changing oil, body restoration, changing tires to full on engine repairs. Join our crew to collaborate as a team, learn new skills, fix cars, and build friendships!

Why I do what I do:
I have been in the automotive industry most of my adult life. I started out as a mechanic and then we became known as automotive technicians. I spent years learning my profession and improving my knowledge and skills. I owned my own shop for a while, and I spent a few years teaching Automotive Technology in 2 Colleges. Now I work here in the Automotive Program, teaching people to fix cars. A lot of them are trying to learn everything they can to get a good job and start a good career. And that's why I work here. To help them all I can and to teach them what they will need to know to start in this industry. And every time one of my students starts a task they aren't familiar with, works hard, and then accomplishes something they didn't think they could do, they are so happy that they accomplished something they thought was impossible. And that's why I work here. To teach students and to help them learn and do things to build a future for themselves. And I know they will succeed. My job isn't about me, it's about the people I'm teaching. They are the real story.
