Shanley Fisher
Position/Program: Outpatient Mental Health/ Co-occurring Therapist
Pronouns: She/Her
Pets: 2 dogs, 6 cats, 4 turkeys, and way too many chickens
3 favorite things: anything having to do with homesteading, long summer days out in creeks and rivers, and my son and husband.
Something I like to do outside of work: getting lost out on forest service roads and logging roads, among the mountains and trees.
Something interesting about me: I absolutely love the arts, and was a performer doing singing, dancing, and acting for many years. Something about music feeds my soul and helps me release.
Why I do what I do: I identify with the "wounded healer" archetype, which refers to one who harnesses personal experiences of trauma, adversity, and "wounds", to cultivate empathy, insight and compassion that help others on their own paths of healing. I am passionate about what I do because I know how it feels to hit rock bottom, when it's hard to see the way up, when it feels like the weight on your shoulders is becoming too hard to bear. I seek this type of work because I feel a calling to share what has helped me on my healing journey, to help lighten the load and surrender things hindering self-validation and self-rediscovery, and self-love. Because I believe we are not defined by our mistakes, our past or our traumas, rather they serve as seeds to personal growth and spiritual regeneration. I feel compelled to share the ways in which nature, music, and animals have helped me on my journey to healing, in hopes they will provide the same refuge that they have for me. I do what I do because I want to provide the safe space, support, and guidance that I found I have needed along the way, to help remind us that there is hope and we are not alone.
